Re: X1 thoughts
I welcome the introduction of more and more skinny bundles for the non-sports audience. With some competition in that market maybe price will be so inexpensive that nearly all with an internet connection will choose one. And as long as the competition stays fierce the rate could stay low for the consumer.

Re: X1 thoughts
Do you have a choice of another cable provider? Or can you get a good satellite signal and switch to that provider? Why did you choose Comcast in the first place? I'm glad I'm in an area with another cable option...Comcast and service just don't seem to go together -- though my provider seems to be joining Comcast in a race to the bottom for customer service.

I've been impressed with what Comcast is doing - I think it's a bit pricey but the movement towards home amenities coupled with Apple styling could do well for them.

X1 thoughts
I've been a Comcast video customer and X1 user for five months now. The X1 is a great little media box and the voice search is fantastic, especially with the discovery integration across Netflix and YouTube. But the main reason I have the thing is to watch TV and that means lots of DVR use. As DVRs go, the X1 is an absolute piece of crap. And a 500GB hard drive? Seriously? The thing fills up pretty fast and we're always deleting to make more room. I was shocked by how bad of a DVR the X1 is. Clunky, jerky, slow, horrible menus, no skip forward, a million button pushes to do simple things, the list goes on. I get thumb cramps from a night with the X1 DVR! Obviously, Comcast is looking forward to a day when we all just watch everything On Demand and don't record live content, because they have put very little effort into the DVR experience. If you've ever used a Hopper DVR from DISH, and then used the X1, you will know exactly what I'm talking about. The difference is night and day.

Upgrade the upgrades
Tis the season for new hardware! I'll mark that down as another shopping season for the year...
