I see the value of its functionality, but I wonder if the appeal isn't primarily for older customers. Millennials already find the idea of renting a cable box -- and paying $150 per month for cable -- archaic. Not sure voice controls and these other bells and whistles really change that. Cord cutting is driven primarily by price, flexibility -- not cable box functionality.

X1 is a smart move. It's premium cable with some features that younger customers want. In order for Comcast to stave off OTT, it needs to become a be-all end-all for those looking to consume content. That's the secret to success.
