It will bear a close watch, and others will certainly be viewing carefully what Apple does with the plan to  spend" $1 billion on original content over the next year." That a big chunk of programming. But as noted without an in house delivery system for broadband they could get tripped up in that sector where expenses and contractual terms may be problematic.

Long in coming...
Apple's been threatening to revolutionize the TV sector for what...ten years now? Not sure at what point the smart bet winds up being sticking to what you know. That's a lot of money to throw at what by that point will be a very crowded market filled with people with much more specific experience in the space.
