@Mitch you hit on something very central here. Obviously, not everyone who has worked in maintenance and operation can move into innovation and develoment. One: there are never as many positions to fill in those area as there have been in day-to-day work. Two: those positions require more advanced skills and abilities that not everyone displaced by automation will possess.
