Have you seen what Codenvy has done over the years? I interviewed Tyler Jewel sevearal years ago. I asked about Android development with Codenvy -- they added support for it less than a year later. Android development wasn't on any roadmap at the time of that interview. They move fast.

@Michelle: I have always been personally impressed with how Red Hat goes about its business and I think in this case, the company has found an acquisition that will fit well within what it is doing.

I think this is a great pairing. Codenvy has been working on its products for a long time. They have been good about adding user-requested features over time.

According to its website, Codenvy has free team cloud hosting for up to three developers, and 3GB of RAM per developer. I can see how that can ease entry into subscription fees for more RAM and more developers.
