The headline also caught my attention and I thought it was indeed some cattle company. But nonetheless Rancher seems to be onto something here with the stripped down version especiallymade for the container path.

I agree. It's quite clever. THIS is clearly the path to Linux stardom if you're a new distro.


aside: Who wrote the article headline?? I thought some old rancher launched a new version of Linux.

This isn't a bad idea - containers are something that's still relatively new. Linux has been around for what seems like forever, but building around containers is something customers will clearly buy for security reasons.
