Google Fiber - My Takeaway in 2012 - Doomed from the Start

I visited Google in KC in August,2012 and came away with disappointment. Thought their numbers and penetration looked weak, content was weak, and they were giving away a lot of public services. Analysts have focused on technology, but gave very little on financial results. Google TV was hyped as well but missed the consumer. They needed more cable savvy people at their demonstrations, and in their operation in KC, to give a better differentiation of what they provide. Still think a company based on search ad revenue has to challenge the cable subscription model more than they are doing. At this stage the demographics of the avg. cable TV subscriber is still heavily slanted to value versus the latest and greatest in technology. I see it as another miss by Google. I was expecting much more. No one buys a Ferrari to drive to a Walmart

Hmm
Well it's quite surprising. Maybe they will develop again!
