@Joe: Since the company's largest customer is Microsoft, a company with not only the money but th technicial resources to look into these things, I think that pretty much well answers that.

@Scott: Moreover, at the end of the day, how closely are buyers paying attention to things like independent benchmark tests anyway?  Buying decisions are made on the most arbitrary (and sometimes ridiculous) "criteria".  It's usually a matter of timing and the charm of the salesperson.

I agree. From what you could see from the results of both companies, I doubt this will have a long-term impact on either of them. Arista seems to have developed a well-defined customer base and they look they are willing to buy what's being sold.

The funny thing now is all the investors pulling their hair out over the Cisco-Arista patent battle -- completely forgetting that patent battles are par for the course and things usually work out okay in the end for both companies anyway.

Of course, not all investors are into long-term holds.
