Re: trust
Although I've had Evernote installed on my mobile devices for yeasrs, I've never used it. I don't know if my needs are getting less over the years or I just want to consolidate everything to Google, but it seems folks pretty much stay where they are. Start with Evernote, and stay with them. Start with Google, stay with them.

Re: trust
Don't know that the public cloud would be any less safe than the private cloud. The danger is in data in transit and on the desktop, not that the servers will be hacked.

I am assuming that part of Evernote's calculus was whether the public cloud is a safe place to store its customers' data. The evidence suggests Evernote came down to one of two answers: 1) it's safe, or 2) Evernote decided that the promise of improved service velocity and lower cost trump whatever safety concerns it had.
