Re: Yahoo and Twitter
On the one hand, you're right.  10 years is a long time to go without turning a profit.

There's something there, but they haven't figured it out yet.

In any case, if Groupon (GROUPON!) is still alive and kicking still, I think there's hope for Twitter.

Re: Yahoo and Twitter
you may be right, but that doesn't mean that it is really worth that

I don't think it;'s worth anything

it makes no money  and its now being fiercely disintermediated by new alternaitves

in five years time it will be nothing

Yahoo and Twitter
If Yahoo can sell itself for over $4.8 billion, Twitter should easily be able to double or triple that (if not more-ple that) if it ever goes up for sale any time soon.

Re: Yahoo today $4.83BN -- is Twitter worth no more?
@Ray: I definitely think that those whose business it is to value these tech companies place far too high a value on # of users.  (Tumblr has a lot of users too...)  And $12.7 seems, well, rather high.

That said, I also think the skeptics are wrong.  Twitter has been on the right track with monetization for the past five years.  It remains to be seen how they'll continue to leverage the platform that they have.

The big question is, who's next for Verizon? MySpace?

Twitter's market cap value is about $12.7 billion, but is it over-valued?
