Right.  Rhetorical question.  ;)  The 140-character limit is the unique selling proposition.  While some people may want to write more than 140 characters, Twitter recognizes that most people don't want to *read* more than 140 characters.

Twitter's 140 characters have been a matter of debate since the inception of service. It seems like the grand debate is not ending anytime soon.
