Getting devices ready
It's true that by now device manufacturers should be planning to ship devices with the ability to communicate with each other and their networks by next year, if not by the end of this one. The amoount of relatively new devices that will become obsolete in a short periot of time will be huge. So there will be an important change in the electronics manufacturing space as well. -Susan

The difference ...
> The difference between iphone & Blackberry ...

Its a very remarkable statement. I'm a little surprised to hear that there is no competition in this space. I remember reading about a company trying to do something similar. Cant recall right now.

Re: Apigee IoT & IPO
@Mitch,

I 100% agree, but this is a big first step, or it could be a big first step, time will tell.

Re: Apigee IoT & IPO
Very interesting read. I had always wondered what Apigee did, and now this makes total sense. IoT devcies are going to need a layer that allows them to connect to the internet, and that's what Apigee provides.

This IoT industry is really moving forward!

Re: Apigee IoT & IPO
Simply creating open source interfaces is just the first step. Vendors need to actively work and invest money into building a community around those interfaces.

Apigee IoT & IPO
Apigee says it hopes to raise a $86.3 million from its public offering. It's really on a tear right now. APIs enable so much of our digital life, and IoT is a natural next step.
