@thebulk,

I guess improvement is better than regression. THey've improved. Not as much as their competition. But it's serviceable.

@pcharles09,

I am in the same boat of disbelief. I had sprint service some time back and painfully recall how bad the service quality was. I guess things can change. even if just in a small bubble.

Re: Shades of LTE-Advanced
Chicago is Samsungs FIT market where Samsung has clusters to test all its assorted goodies including their Samsung Band 25 / Band 41 outdoor Pico cells, band 41 carrier aggregation (live for Sprint engineers), 2nd Band 41 carrier (40978 EARFCN + 41176 EARFCN), higher order MIMO, and other assorted LTE-A and network related technologies so it's no surprise Sprint would advertise it for being the first city to be really blanketed.

Not to mention it's one of the best Sprint markets spectrum wise with 15x15 mhz of FDD-LTE capacity deployed (eSMR 5x5, PCS B 5x5, PCS G 5x5) + 20 mhz TDD live on existing Clearwire Samsung and Sprint Samsung Band 41 equipment. It's basically the prime candidate to show of.

Re: Shades of LTE-Advanced
@SReedy,

Who knew? All these years, I thought Sprint service sucked as a whole. But all I had to do was go to Chicago. In all honesty, they're improved over the years. Looking fwd to when the leap is brought to NYC!

Shades of LTE-Advanced
Sprint didn't provide a timeline for when it would begin its LTE-Advanced upgrades, nor detail how it will deploy the different features, but it has talked about carrier aggregation, MIMO and 8t8r separately for awhile now. Each has its own benefits and can be deployed together or on their own. Either way, hopefully the rest of the country won't be far behind in getting the much-need improvements.
