Re: Any Catalyst Projects in Australia?
Most of them already are building their own networks, at least to connect their data centers. Although "building" may be the wrong term, they are leasing dark fiber.

Re: Any Catalyst Projects in Australia?
I've often thought that myself lately. It seems like Google, Facebook, Amazon, and other hypercloud providers have got carriers beat for agility. How long until the hypecloud providers decide they're better off building or acquiring their own networks?

Re: Any Catalyst Projects in Australia?
Telstra has participated in past Catalysts and it's my understanding they are a possible particpant in one of the NFV Catalysts this year, but that isn't definite.

And yes, the goal of NFV deployment is to speed up service launches - I think we are still a ways away from that target, however. If they can't start competing with the Googles of the world, the telecom network operators will soon become irrelevant.

Any Catalyst Projects in Australia?
Hello Carol - Nice piece.

It is wonderful to see that NFV is turning mainstream.

Just curious, are there any NFV initiaties coming from Australia? I thought I heard about some new deployments with wireless operators there...

Secondly, do you see any of these NFV services helping the operators launch services faster (like Google does)?
