I guess the only answer is that some folks are tired of paying exorbitant rates for cable. Most people don't even have time to watch 10% of the channels they pay for. So why not slim down & take a chance. I mean if it's only $20/month, why not?

Like pay-TV, but lousy?
If I get this right, it works as best-effort, over-the-top streaming. No QoS guarantees, no traffic prioritising, no nothing. No better than youtube. Why would one pay (even 20$) for a service that will only annoy with artifacts during the final match? Is there really a market for this?

Just how many residential customers pay for skype calls?
