Re: Hotter than a pepper sprout?
Here in Washington State, there are several PUDs (Public Utility Districts) that implemented gigabit fiber under the Rurual Broadband act.   It's funny, because you can find farm houses and cabins alongside roadways, that have an order of magnitude higher Internet speed than many of our city and suburban users do!

Hotter than a pepper sprout?
To me, deployments like this epitomize the gigabit trend -- a municipality that's working to attract business investment, a provider with 10 years of experience operating an FTTH network and residents who are already buying broadband from the utility provider. We'll be tracking the Jackson story to see if the city is successful.
