Re: ALU is getting no respect
The 7950 XRS is definitely a worthwhile competitor to both the Cisco ASR/CRS and Juniper PTX/MX.   Many large providers use the 7750 gear as edge service routers because their hierarchy and configuration lends itself well to configuring services versus Cisco/Juniper, but the reality is their core features and density are just as strong.

ALU is getting no respect
While no one has been talking about the b word for a while, ALU is not getting any respect even though it has made great stride in the router and small cell areas. Granted that its financials still leveraged, it is trying hard to be all things to all people. Recent wins bode well to its resurgence. Perhaps the recent wave of anti-American sentiment helps but corporations these days are really multinational, or at least they should try to be independent of its home country. Acatel was once a French entity; but with Lucent, and some of the latter's valuable assets, it will go far. The Chinese vendors should heed to that lesson
