Re: vEPC Many of the network operators involved in the ETSI NFV ISG are focused on virtualising the mobile core and associated infrastructure components. NFV is particularly relevant in that space because it enables efficient scaling and temporal trading of infrastructure resources according to the types of services being demanded. Successive waves of investment in mobile infrastructures will sync. to the emergence of NFV technologies. See our blog post on the ETSI NFV web page for the latest progress out of our NFV#5 meeting in Malaga last week: http://www.etsi.org/technologies-clusters/technologies/nfv?tab=3. vEPC The virtual EPC sounds like a pretty powerful notion for future wireless network design. Was anyone at MWC last year even talking about something like this as if it was on the horizon? SDN and NFV seem to be taking over the chatter around events set for this year even though it might have been business as usual last year.

Virtualization taking over I'm guessing NFV and SDN demos are going to dominate a lot oif the trade show landscape. We're certainly going to be talking - and showing -- a lot of what virtualization can do at the Big Telecom Event in June.
