Hard to believe isn't it. If it is true why not just high Nielsen to do it for them?  Why reinvent the wheel?

More importantly, to me the only reason for VOD is to NOT see advertisements, so adding targeted adds that I can't fast forward through will only make me use it less.  I used to use VOD but once they eliminated fast forward, I switched to a DVR so I can skip the ads. It is a no win and they should find another model for revenue...like Hulu Plus and the others do.

I admit to being out of my depth here, but Nielsen and others have been doing VoD tracking and rating for a couple years in the US, right? But, no one is doing it in the Canadian market yet?

Just a coupla beers?
So will it really take just "a couple of beers" for Rogers and Shaw to settle the whole VoD problem in Canada by putting together a consortium to sell on-demand advertising spots to advertisers and ad agencies? That would be remarkable. If so, then why hasn't it happened before? Is there truly that much pent-up demand for VoD ad inventory? These are the questions we'll be seeking answers to over the next few months.
