NFC usage in Europe -- continental Europe -- is pretty up on US usage as well, which may affect Orange's findings.

That's certainly the case - mobile payments is moving fastre than the rest of the industry, from the back-end support systems to the capabilities in devices and the Point of Sale tech. Maybe coins will go the way of vinyl...

The stuff about mobile payments is interesting, too, but might also reflect that the broader ecosystem support mobile payment is stronger now than it was when everyone was using 3G.

Geolocation games
The usage stats from Orange suggest that startups that cn make some compelling games that use geolocation as part of the play will make a packet (see, Supercell). I have seen some attempts at incorporating GPS in games before but nothing super-great.
