Re: Tattoos and WiFi
This will give everyone something to do on those days when the bacteria levels in the water are too high, which some summers happens about every other day.

Re: Tattoos and WiFi
Sad that people want to use WiFi instead of enjoying Chicago's beautiful beaches and Lake Michigan though. Plus, all I can think of is rip-tides + WiFi=recipe for disaster. I hope the CPD makes their lifeguards turn in their mobiles before going on duty!

Re: Tattoos and WiFi
Re Starbucks, I'm surprised by that. Sure, a lot of people are just checking in while waiting in the often massive lines, but there are so many people working there. I'm surprised they aren't doing more data intensive activities like web browsing and video or audio streaming.

Re: Tattoos and WiFi
The 6,000 number was just over one weekend, albiet Chicago's most crowded beach weekend. There were 1M connections made over the length of the summer. I agree that awareness is part of the issue. I bet a lot of beach goers, tatted or otherwise, were not expecting WiFi there and perhaps didn't have the radio turned on.

Re: Tattoos and WiFi
Well we see what you have been checking out at the beach :-) My initial thoughts is 6000 users accessing wifi out of millions is not significant - but awareness(lack of)and further demographics will have a part in this equation.. I have also seen data coming back that showed Starbucks user were also not using bandwidth as assumed - with simple email and a quick chat being the bulk of usage... So the future is here, but we still need to better understand usage patterns, now, and also as the user market further adopts, matures and users become better aware of coverage locations/availability ..

Tattoos and WiFi
Not surprised about the high number of WiFi connections at Chicago's beaches. They are always packed during the two months of nice weather here. I never tried the WiFi out as I tend to avoid the beaches for that reason. I wonder if there was a correlation between number of tattoos and length of WiFi usage....There's no shortage of tats on the beach either!
