Whacky
So the alogo is pushing/pulling data from the WiFi radio and the cell radio and mixing it? Must be choosing to use WiFi for the heavy lifting, 3G/4G for the signaling load maybe? I would think the sync issues must be one of the issues they'd have to tackle.

Re: Whacky
Yeah, it's certainly an interesting approach. I'm still trying to wrap my head around exactly how it works. They weren't too forthcoming as it's the heavily patented part of their approach. If handoff is already tricky on 3G/4G to LTE, I wonder how it works on a blended network.

Re: Whacky
If we look at WiFi from a more practical side we see that:
- It is a battery drain like no other
- WiFi coverage is not even spotty
- The characterisrics of WiFi makes it almost impossible to use unless you are very stationary

A rules set based selection as a great invention actually solving something?
I just don't buy it.

Soft solution
This is an interesting concept and one that sounds like it could help in the rise of the air agnostic network. If I were these guys I would also think about meeting with mobile devices folks as well as companies like Netflix.

Re: Whacky
Good point on the battery life! Although it is way better than it was.

They are -- said "major OTTs" were also a focus, along with cable MSOs.

Re: Whacky
Since it's just for video and audio streaming versus all data, I think most use cases would be someone who is stationary. I imagine it would be implemented with a pop up, so the consumer actually chooses it and probably pays extra from it. But, yeah, from an actual tech perspective, I see your hesitation.

Re: Whacky
Stationary, yes, the dangers of "distracted walking" are too great otherwise. ;-)

Hey guys! I live in Korea and am using that service. It,s good. Was easy to install and working like a magic. Thanks to it, I could slow down the speed of my LTE data consumption, and I did not miss the live baseball broadcast even on the subway going home. Bye guys!
