KB Beats Hasty Retreat
So KB is beating a hasty retreat from its acquisition ambitions, eh? Guess we won't see the German cable market consolidate so quickly after all. Deutsche Telekom must be happy anout that.

Re: The power of a global mobile operator
You need to take into account tha fact that AT&T has historically had significant ownership presence in S.A. so it'snot like they'd be total novices, plus any pan-european acquisition would enhance that historical AT&T knowledge with the local knowledge on dealing with the EU wide and individual country complexities.

I wonder how they and their acquisitions would be treated by the EU and it's members who wouldnt welcome an American invasion especially after the discovery of AT&T's deep involvement with the NSA

Re: The power of a global mobile operator
If AT&T did acquire in Europe, they'd face a much different regulatory and competitive environment too. I think a lot of their pricing ploys wouldn't fly over there.

The power of a global mobile operator
Imagine if AT&T did actually merge with a major European operator? Like Telefonica?

The economies of scale from being a major in N and S AMerica and Europe and the packages that could be offered to corporate customers would be something....

But what sort of legal, financial and operational mess might such a deal create?

If AT&T does anyting it has to be big - going Tier 2 doesn't seem like it would be worth it.
