re: Zwan Responds on DIGL Stock Deals Well its about time LR is called on its very "grey" reporting tactics. I wonder if DIGL is an advertiser? Probably Not.

re: Zwan Responds on DIGL Stock Deals This article has compelled me to question what LR wants to accomplish with its site. The About US section of the website reads as follows

{start_of_text}

Light Reading is an information resource covering optical networking, a set of technologies that will propel the Internet into a new era and lead to the convergence of telecommunications and TV.

Our Website and weekly e-mail newsletter help carriers, vendors and investors steer a course towards this goal by providing timely, in-depth analysis of developments.

We aim to give you the inside dope on what's going on in the optical networking industry and to explain the significance of developments by putting them into context.

In order to do this, we're breaking new ground by combining aggressive technology news analysis with top-flight financial journalism. WeGÇÖre also the only publication to cover the people behind the optical networking industry.

We're providing this information free of charge. Our revenues come from other sources such as advertising and conferences.

Light Reading was founded by Stephen Saunders and Peter Heywood, former executive editors of Data Communications magazine.

It was launched on February 1st, 2000. Since then, traffic has rocketed.

Light Reading is expanding rapidly (see Light Reading Expands Media Empire. Unlike most dotcoms, it's been profitable from day one.

top-flight financial journalism .... what does that mean?

re: Zwan Responds on DIGL Stock Deals My, that was a mature and informative response to the postings!

re: Zwan Responds on DIGL Stock Deals Curious, what does accuracy cost these days?
Obare 12/4/2012 | 9:51:37 PM
re: Zwan Responds on DIGL Stock Deals That is the kind of response you get when you don't pay for information!

re: Zwan Responds on DIGL Stock Deals What I want to know is why do these shyster lawyers never use their first name? It always seems to be a first initial and a middle name. I guess they're psuedo juniors like Dubya. Way too much concentration of the wealth/power in too few inbred families.

DW

Agree that LR deserves the hand slap on this one though there is probably something fishy going on here.

re: Zwan Responds on DIGL Stock Deals I would guess that LR loves to get letters like this. It just means they are doing their job. LetGÇÖs face it; you have got to use your own filter on what you read here. LR is an online Optical Networking Tabloid. (Just wish I could read LR while standing in the grocery store checkout line.) The content is interesting, catchy and usually controversial. Accuracy is optional. Why it that? Eyeballs! Yours and mine. Without tabloid like content, we wouldnGÇÖt be reading all of the articles and Article Chat postings. Each click on the next message button is another hit on the LR site. That translates to advertisement revenue.

IGÇÖll be the first to admit that I enjoy reading LR. Sometimes for information, sometimes for entertainment. Heck, I enjoy reading the tabloid headlines at the grocery store too. I donGÇÖt purchase the tabloids just like I wouldnGÇÖt pay to read LR. But I will lend them my eyeballs every now and then...

re: Zwan Responds on DIGL Stock Deals This letter does not affect gross numbers even a tiny bit: in a very short period the guy sold $384M in stock of the company with a fair market value below $80M.

Thanks,

re: Zwan Responds on DIGL Stock Deals I almost passed over this story.

It needs a more catchy title:
"Light Reading Forced to Make Full Retraction"
