re: VP Jumps From Juniper So, after all the turmoil last summer that led to Ashok leaving/being booted/whatever from JNPR and going to start up a new company with his brothers, word from Mathilda is that JNPR is making a minority investment in his company and they are leasing space to them (the old Netscreen space is what was said)... ah well... it was probably too good to hope that he was really gone. It'll probably just come to pass as another scheme to get Ashok and bro's more $$ when JNPR acquires his company...

re: VP Jumps From Juniper The company name is xsigo.

It is backed by Robert Lane (ex Oracle president) and Vinod Khosla. Also invested by Graylock VC.

The website still shows Bernardo address. Don't know about this change.

re: VP Jumps From Juniper "Unfortunately, with all the major wins MS has had in IPTV recently, crashing and burning on that front would set IPTV deployment back a couple of years (or more). Without successful IPTV, FTTH technology deployment could also be set back a couple of years. Unless there is a competing working, scalable IPTV system with the backing of a big enough supplier to step into the breach and replace MS, their failure could be bad news for the industry in general."

We will see about this coupling between fiber and SDPs or IPTV. In any event, the technology is too immature to scale, so do not hold your breath. Software is a difficult beast to tame. Personally, I hope it dies fast, we we can move back to the dumb, fast, network with intelligence at the ends, the only network that scales.
