re: Top Ten Video Sharing Websites blip.tv? is that a joke? the site is slow as hell, using quicktime which is a pain in the s and featureing the most borring videos in the world..

btw, i've spotted metacafe down on the list. the site is alexa 120. only second to youtube. i guess the internet users simply don't know what's good for them.

amature writer.

re: Top Ten Video Sharing Websites One major piece of information missing from this was the absolute number of submissions to each site. Your rating system seems pretty arbitrary. I would be interested to know what number of items are submitted to each site which would tell us whether or not the community of submitters agreed with your ranking system.

Furthermore, I was disappointed to see that Table 3 limited itself to your top 10. I remember seeing the Nielsen/NetRatings and noting with surprise that Metacafe users spend over 30 minutes per visit making the site even more sticky than YouTube and way ahead of every other online video site you reviewed. Someone seems to be enjoying the experience there even if you aren't.

I think subjective is the word you're looking for -- and you're right. My biases were laid out pretty clearly in the article's intro.

Metacafe is definitely a popular site. If you want to see loads of Hollywood movie clips and soft core porn, it's tops. If you're looking to share video with family/friends, start a video blog, or an Internet TV series, there are some better options out there.

Metacafe is a hugely popular site for watching viral videos. But not it's not as good for sharing videos as some other sites that offered better features, as I mentioned in the report.

re: Top Ten Video Sharing Websites Your report is very helpful. You nicely set out your criteria for evaluation and applied them evenhandedly. I tried several of the sites based on your report and found that they tracked your insights and evaluations very closely. Thanks for providing this helpful tool.
