re: The Effect of War on Telecom Food will reach people in time... That is being blocked obviously because of current fighting. Things take time to happen. If you expect what happens in 2 days to be indicator of any countries policy then perhaps I cannot explain anything to you at all.

One more point supplying food to natives of Iraq is a duty of the agressor not a kind largesse. Politically it will help to build a better image of the invader so who wont do it? As per my previous post I tried to come up with a reason for war. And I doubt the claims that original motivation was to liberate people of Iraq.. It maybe a byproduct but the original motivation was definitely not this as shown by 10 years preceding 911

re: The Effect of War on Telecom Iraq's Chief Information Officer seems to be smoking the same stuff the dot com and optical VCs were smoking. "The US army isn't even within 100 miles of Baghdad"?! Give me a break!

re: The Effect of War on Telecom What is really frightening is that this insane war launched by the current US Government would lead to the development of more weapons of mass destruction by the US and other countries.

Many countries of the world thought that we have entered an era of peace and they stopped producing lethal weapons. Russia is very capable of prducing any weapons that we have. But they were led into believing that with the improved
relations with the US there is no need to produce lethal weapons. But they were surprised and I am sure that Russia and China will start producing weapons of mass destruction as the US.

The threat posed by the US may even lead China, Russia and India may form common block to defend themselves from the US threat. Some smaller countries may join hands with each other and produce at least some weapons to protect themselves.

Some very experienced senators like John Kerry and Tom Daschle have questioned the legality of Bush's action. Senator Kerry has even usked the US citizens to remove President Bush from power. President Bush is indeed a threat to the world peace and prosperty. All the world including us would suffer because of the actions taken by the current US Government.

We may inavertently start world war IV. I am sure President Bush will use nuclear weapons.

Bush is so much preoccupied with war since his election that he hardly had time to contain failing economy.

re: The Effect of War on Telecom Booby,

SHUT UP! You are becoming increasingly more surreal with each passing day! I can't even figure out what you are trying to say anymore

You know even less about world politics than you do about telecommunications, and that's saying something.

The US poses no threat to these countries. The economic interdependencies get stronger every day.

Neither the US, nor will King Dubya, initiate a first strike with nuclear weapons.

Bush is so much preoccupied with war since his election that he hardly had time to contain failing economy.

Agreed here. And he's been giving too much money to dying industries.

If we don't fix that then there will be 80M baby boomers staring at retirement and expensive healthcare payments with only their shrinking 401Ks as their source of income. Folks like HealthSouth going into bankruptcy suggests it's past time we stopped looking to Wall St. for our e-valuations.

re: The Effect of War on Telecom Dear "Dr." Signmeup:

Please exercise some restraints about what you say about other people. You have very poor ettiquette and very impverished upbringing.

I think your skills and knoiwledge of world events is very scanty. It also appears to me you did not learn much from the universities and colleges you attended. It appears you are QA or a lab maintenance personnel rotting somewhere.

I would recommend you to read War and Peace by Bertrand Russell. If you have any difficulty in understanding it, please let me know.

re: The Effect of War on Telecom I think you are absolutely right on this. There is now every chance that this is a 'shot in the arm' for another arms race. Countries will want to either jump into 'bed' with the US hoping they are not raped (Well the US may give them the bed and sleep on the foor ;)!) or arm themselves to the teeth in order that they may have some detterent of sorts. Nuclear weapons are now a real goal for many nations(N.Korea.) Countries like India have no way of protecting themseleves if attacked by US even if they have so called nuclear weapons. They simply cannot threat anyone apart from its nextdoor neighbour Pakistan, a declared friend of US. And there in lies the trigger. The US can attack India in the cause for world peace knowing that India does not have weaponry to threat the US. This brings in the China and Russian common block that can guarantee security for such nations. In return they will be able to sell goods to a vast market. I see Europe very much deciding to have its own voice in the next decade and putting its own startegic interest first. So you may have the US+UK+Japan+S.Korea, Europe (France+Germany)and China+Russia+India forming 3 common blocks in the future. Do not get comfortable after the Iraq victory. The worst is yet to come. Here comes WW111. GOD BLESS THIS WORLD.

re: The Effect of War on Telecom Great quote from the Iraqi Information Minister Mohammed Saeed al-Sahaf, who called reports of coalition forces on the outskirts of Baghdad "an illusion." "They're not even [within] 100 miles," he said. "They are not in any place. They hold no place in Iraq. This is an illusion. ... They are trying to sell to the others an illusion."

re: The Effect of War on Telecom yep, the Bush junior just started the cold war back again. I think this is a good thing for mostly defense industry. So for the unemployed telecom engineer/analyst, it's time to go back to the defense now. The motherland has called you back to help defense this country.

WW III has just been started (or to be exact the nuclear arms race) to ignite the dying telecom industry. It's time to learn how to make the advanced airplane, tanks, missiles, and robust resilient networks. No more fiber or wireless networks development invested for the corporate use.

re: The Effect of War on Telecom Maybe you want to read about the US plans
to use gas in Iraq. In case you doubt this
information please mind that those three
people are well respected specialists who
were also asked by governments to
evaluate the taking of hostages in a Moscow
theater lately. They identified the gas the
police was using to GÇ£freeGÇ¥ the people
(mainly the souls from their bodies).
