re: The Effect of War on Telecom E) He is of above-average intelligence and there are some who disagree with him. His posts have been articulate and hasn't resorted to ad hominem.

You are also of above-average intelligence but you've just run out of things to say. Wouldn't you agree?

Herein lies the problem with the majority of engineers and their outlook on life. The thought that without them the World would come to a complete stop in terms of progress, not be able function properly, and more than likely regress.

I agree BobbyM is a negative pain and writes biased, poorly-written posts; however, I also believe that he is the culmination of more than one LR staff member who take turns writing posts. This would explain the change in recent posts from past as well as the morph of HarveyM to BobbyM. Why would LR do this? To play devil's advocate and stir the pot a little.

re: The Effect of War on Telecom Bill,

I disagree. I really believe that Boobie is a real person/thing/entity. Boobie's M.O. has been to not respond to anyone. Yet, several times on this thread, he has lashed out at his detractors. I think we really got under his skin this time. If it were someone posting as a goof, part of the mystique would be that he never responds to posters. There is nothing to be gained by a "ghostwriter" moving away from the myth by responding to posts.

An obvious reason for the disparity in some of Boobie's recent posts is the time of day that he's writing. Some of his posts are in the middle of the night (regardless of what coast you're on). I theorize that he is a heavy drinker. He's probably a loner, so if he's a chatty drunk with no one to talk to, he talks to us in the article threads. He's drunk at these times and even less coherent than usual.

Just my thoughts.

Cheers,
CS

re: The Effect of War on Telecom Armchair? Hardly! Crap on you crapscooter.

For the record, I worked in the defense industry for many years, and designed a lot of the equipment being used today. I feel torn over what it is doing and has done to human beings: I have their blood on my hands as sure as if I pulled the trigger myself. The only thing that lets me sleep at night is the fact that it has cut the casualities on both sides dramatically.

I am sad you apparently really believe the big lie about this war being for the people of Iraq.

If have a word for you to think about: Iraqistan.

In case you don't get it: where is Afghanistan these days? Back into warlords and desert piracy, that's where. So where is the nation building? Have the women there been liberated from the Burkas and being stoned for showing an ankle? No is the answer. Why? The rich have decided to leave it in that state, and rob them of their natural resources.

PS: I am a Republican, and I voted for the bush. At least I admit my mistakes: at war, crap economy, no jobs.

Your self-justification still doesn't give you the right to decide how the parents of dead soldiers should feel. Sorry.

re: The Effect of War on Telecom I vote for D:
D) Boobie is just good-old-fashioned stupid. Over time, the brain begins to rebel due to the stress of over-activity (i.e. too many LR posts) and the degree of mental incapacity increases exponentially.

Bobbymax is just plain as dumb as a post. And I dont buy that business about bobby being a joke by LR.

re: The Effect of War on Telecom Grow up. You want to lie to them so they feel better? Great! Let's go do it again! Make some rich people richer.

By the way, why don't you strap some C4 on your belly, go over there and hug Saddam?

That's where you are coming from: the easily manipulated and foolish.

Oh for crying out loud. Don't be so lame. This is either phony outrage for the effect or you need to see someone about your anger problem.

Ummmmm...I'm almost speechless. Well let's see. I could ask what percentage of engineering problems have been solved by non-engineers? Not many.

Does progress stop without engineers? Certainly progress on engineering problems would. Political or philospohical or religious progress might continue, but I doubt they would come up with a solution to transport the population of all of us to some life supporting planet.

Anyway it was tongue in cheek, guess you missed that part. No sense of humor, another sign of the decline of mankind. And about Bobby being LR people, there is no way they could employ someone that stupid.

It's all part of what I call the "LCD effect". So much in society panders to the unintelligent (the LCD or Lowest Common Denominator) and in turn serves to bring the rest of us down with it. Its the Roman Empire all over again, too big and too cocky for our own good. And too stupid to realize we are on a spiral path to self destruction.

Television is a grand example. It is so inane now I can't even stand to turn it on. I don't mean the war coverage I mean the idiocy that passes for entertainment. Fox is the king of programming for the masses. Their programs are so unbelievably ignorant and it has become more and more popular with the rest of the networks following suit and they are all now broadcasting an overwhleming amount of these mindless "reality" shows which are nothing more than humanity at its worst for us all to laugh at. But I don't find it funny, its pathetic. And their shows like Most Amazing Animal Attacks of Cops While They Are Chasing The Dumbest Criminals in the History of the World Part 17 is an absolute crime against humanity. Add on wrestling, game shows of who can eat what disgusting thing faster than the other guy and talk shows and soap operas and you have just about single handedly dropped the IQ of America in half. And listening to the idiotic rants of Bobby just makes me realize how far we have already fallen.

But I am ranting now, sorry.
