re: The Effect of War on Telecom T5 ANOTHER GREAT POST.

JUST WANTED TO COMMENT THAT MOST PEOPLE THAT LIVE IN THE US AND HAVE NEVER TRAVELLED ABROAD CANNOT GRASP THE CONCEPT, IT IS BEST PUT IN VERY SIMPLE TERMS.

LET'S GO BACK 40 YEARS IN US HISTORY IN THE SOUTH AS WELL AS SOME AREAS IN THE NORTH WHEN THE BLACK POPULATION WAS GIVEN EQUAL RIGHTS, HELL PEOPLE SAW THAT AS AN INVASION ESPECIALLY WHEN A COLORED PERSON MOVED INTO THEIR NEIGHBORHOOD. THE WORST IS THAT PEOPLE STILL HAVE THE SAME ATTITUDES TODAY, MAYBE ON A SMALLER SCALE AND THERE WAS NO "WAR" WITH OVER 5000 DEAD.

JUST ONE CORRECTION WITH REGARDS TO TRADE, IN THE 13TH TO 19TH CENTURY THE ARABS ALSO PURSUED THE COKE TRADE (SLAVE TRADE), AS WELL AS PROVIDING THE WORLD WITH THE FOUNDATIONS OF MODERN MATHEMATHICS, AMONGST OTHER THIS THAT YOU MENTIONED DURING THE SAME PERIOD AS THE EUROPEAN DARK AGES

whitta, get a life

re: The Effect of War on Telecom Telecom is dead, all people are purchasing these days are replacement cards, hey AT&T pushed out the long haul contract, all the major european provider are in the hole and ther is probably enough fiber aund unused capacity till 2005, when capacity will be at 60-75% utiization

SO WHAT I AM TRYING TO SAY IS THAT WE NOW ARE BECOMING FOREIGN POLICY EXPERTS BECAUSE GEUSS WHAT, WE ARE ALL PROBABLY TIRED OF RESPINNING THE SAME BOARD TO REDUCE COST/SLOW DEMAND FOR THE FOURTH TIME IN A ROW.

re: The Effect of War on Telecom Just caught this in this BBC report:
http://news.bbc.co.uk/2/hi/mid...

"The doctrine of "shock and awe" is based on a book by military strategist Harlan Ullman, who is admired by both Defence Secretary Donald Rumsfeld and Secretary of State Colin Powell.

Mr Ullman wrote that the use of air power to achieve "nearly incomprehensible levels of mass destruction" could achieve "an overwhelming level of shock and awe against an adversary on an immediate basis to paralyse its will to resist".
"

Sorry but isn't the use of this air power a WMD? Or did I miss something that our WMDs are better than their WMDs?

re: The Effect of War on Telecom WE are using the word democracy very losely. We have a true autocracy in our government, educational, and judicial system. The arbtrariness of the judicial system very clear to more than 80% of our citizens witnessed the installation of the President who was not duly elected by the voters. The court could have ordered voting throughout the State of Florida.

Only 20% of our eligible voters participate in the electoral process. If a wrongdoing occurs in any institution, it cannot be corrected and resolved through democratic processes.

There are 80% chance that there are no weapons of mass destruction. No weapons of destruction would be found unless they are illegally transplated in IRAQ by our armed forces.

During the gulf war of 1991, we heard a lot of propoganda about establishing democracy in Kuwait. Even after 11 years there is no democracy in Kuwait. For over forty years Saudi Arabia has been under our control, I have not seenany signs of democracy, even the US style democracy. We have given billions of dollars to Jordan over a period of 50 years or so, but no signs of democracy are visible.

The US Government has destroyed the UNO (United Nations Organization) forever. Going against the UN implies us going against the rest of the world except Great Britain. This confirms the believes of many Americans that we are not a democratic country in spite of our pretensions.

I am afraid there would be several UN resolutions to expel US from the UN.

re: The Effect of War on Telecom In 1985, Iraq was top five in the world
in terms of income per capita - because of
oil industry. Now they are one of the
poorest nations in the world.

This showed that without a balanced industrial
development, a country can not standout.
Just a few year ago, Vinod Kosla was touting
that India can become a modern country by
developing information tech, software, software,
how wrong he was! Writing code for the US
can earn some engineers some money, but
can not save a country. A big nation needs
big heavy industry, manifacture ability,
then info industry - the way Japan, Germany are.

All the people in Asia, it is time to wake up,
and realize what US is.

re: The Effect of War on Telecom With the kind of narrow mind you have, nobody need tell Asia what US is all about. It just reflects i suppose...

Totally wrong, in fact, when China entered
WTO, its steel industry got totally dominated
by Japanese, Russian, Korean steel makers,
Japan makes much better quality steel
at lower price than China, because of efficiency.
Korean is in a different league than India,
Korean is a developed country, in 20 years,
it is very likely Korean will be as strong
as Japan. Korean has got some of the largest
and most advanced companies in the world in Hyundai, Sumsung, Kia, LCG etc.

re: The Effect of War on Telecom GO_PHOTON,

I don't think we'll have to wait 20 years for Korea to be as big as Japan. They have made such tremendous strides in the last decade. Just by looking at the improvement of quality in their cars since the late 80's shows real dedication.
