re: RHK: NA Telecom Capex Upturn in 2004
Does anyone know how reliable their reports have been? Did RHK accurately predict the ~$70B of capex in 2001 back in 2000?

Hell, even a broken watch is right twice a day...

Actually, this release makes a lot of sense. It seems to fit with what we are all facing namely, a slow to recover market.

However, these people have been making prediction after prediction about CAPEX and been wrong. They called a recovery for this year about 6 months ago and then turned around within weeks and said it would be in 2003.

Why anyone pays for their crappy research is beyond me. Their lack of accuracy is laughable.

OK, from overly optimistic for 3 years to overly pessimistic now.

I'm no genious, but why wouldn't the slope of the capex simply return to the old line + some premium for bandwidth appetite?

A little data ... a ruler ... some sense.
