re: Profit Warning Slams EricssonSo perhaps all you ALU naysayers can take back a little of what you've been saying? ERIC took more of a hit in one day than ALU over the last year - and they didn't go through merger blues. And except for some recent irrational exuberance because of wins in India, ERIC and ALU pretty much track each other over the last one year. I guess the wind is pretty much knocked out now.
Perhaps the wireless market is cut-throat, and perhaps ERIC did buy their way into accounts.
It's not necessarily a bad thing to underbid in order to secure the business for the future, but if all you do is look at numbers, the wireless market is crappy for all vendors.
re: Profit Warning Slams EricssonSo Ericsson are waiting for the carriers to be ready to spend some cash ? That doesn't seem to align with the thread running under "Upheaval at BT's 21CN" where the rumour was that Ericsson have failed to deliver and that's causing delays...I guess if Ericsson can't deliver, then the cash won't arrive.
re: Profit Warning Slams Ericsson Anton Wahlman turned out a note today blaming the proliferation of WiFi for the slowing growth of cellular infrastructure. Right or wrong, it is an interesting read.
re: Profit Warning Slams EricssonI partially agree. However, consider this:
1. Yes, there is pressure across the board eating the vendors' margins. However, Ericsson has lower margins and increasing market share. Lucent has decreasing margins share and a shrinking market share based on CDMA, that's been having negative growth in regions other than North America, where they are going to GSM (sacrificing quality and a superior technology in favor of economies of scale). 2. Crying foul because of the market pressures is childish and laughable: If you are in a competitive environment with pressure, will you wait for merging competitors to be in full strength to resume the competition?
I am not a LU hater. I would like for them to succeed, but it is looking increasingly difficult.
re: Profit Warning Slams EricssonI cannot see the logic as WiFi networks are different that cellular infastructure. People who build wifi do not build cellular ?
re: Profit Warning Slams Ericssonand also there is so much noise these days about WiFi mesh projects geting dropped or slowed down. Nope, I don't get this either
