re: Nortel's Got a Plan "Well, I am curious as to how the 15454 stacks up to the product I support..."

At least you're not one of those OC-192 slackers who get a fraction of the calls the OC-48 and other folks do, and yet they still get awards for their metrics :)

re: Nortel's Got a Plan Nortel put this leak out to the Wall Street Journal today. This shows the pathetic state of the company; that the list of Executives that they name here as possible CEOs, has some of the biggest jokers who got Nortel into this mess in the first place. This is no sign of a company which wants to fix itself. Mr. Roth have you completely lost your mind?

"A search is on for a new president and chief executive of Nortel Networks Corp., the telecommunications-equipment supplier in Brampton, Ontario.

Earlier this month, the big company's current leader, John Roth, announced he will retire next April. Clarence Chandran, seen as a potential heir when he became chief operating officer last year, announced his resignation the same day because of medical reasons.

Mr. Roth assumed the chief-operating-officer role after Mr. Chandran went on medical leave in March and will hold those responsibilities until a successor is named.

Nortel spokesman David Chamberlin says the company plans to look internally and externally for Mr. Roth's successor. He wouldn't confirm whether Nortel will hire a separate chief operating officer.

Talk among people in the industry about possible CEO candidates includes the names of former Nortel executives David House and Peter Currie, current Nortel executives Frank Plastina and Anil Khatod, BCE Inc. Chief Executive Jean Monty and BCE President Michael Sabia. BCE, a big Montreal telecom company, held a large stake in Nortel until last year."

re: Nortel's Got a Plan We have experience with Mr. Chamberlin and we no longer pass along his information in Light Reading.

Why not listen to Mumford, instead?

re: Nortel's Got a Plan Metadata123,

I originally posted this against your previous posting... but since I am late to that party, I thought I would repost it here:

Are you attempting to resolve the leadership issue you so eloquently detailed, or are you part of the issue? As a GǣleaderGǥ within NT, are you escalating these issues you so clearly see to those with a Gǣpassing gradeGǥ or to the Board?

To believe the success of a billion dollar corporation relies simply on the leadership talents of RothGs cabinet is a fantasy. Every employee is responsible for the success of a corporationGǪ yes, strong leadership needs to be executed at the top, but it also needs to derive from within the general employee population as well as throughout the various management levels.

As employees, we need to be raising our heads; not hiding. ItGs easy to demean a company and specific employees while hiding behind the anonymity of the web on these chat boards, but until your comments are backed by your real nameGǪ your words need to fall on deaf ears.

Thanks, but we caught the irony of "Lead_by_example" calling for someone else to divulge his real name while remaining anonymous the first time.
