re: NeoPhotonics Readies Its IPO

Is there a specific dominant component, or a pretty broad supply pipe into Huawei?

Yeah, I figure it's mostly PON ... but don't they also sell into the metro and LH platforms?  There was a mention of that back in 2008.

One interesting factor is that NeoPhotonics's gross margin keeps rising (34% in 4Q'09).  Huawei using higher-margin parts than PON would help explain that. (Of course, Huawei isn't 100% of sales...)

re: NeoPhotonics Readies Its IPO GPON transceivers mostly, maybe some VMUXs

re: NeoPhotonics Readies Its IPO The highest single item sale to Huawei is their AWG based VMUX, the fruits of Lightwave Microsystem, which took in close to $200M of investment before became part of Neo. They also sell signficant amount of low end SONET/SDH SFP transceivers to Huawei, products came from Photon part that they acquired a few yrs back.

Nobody has to worry that much about IP while selling in China, at least according to statements in their S-1. That can help margins.

... especially with Series X shares.

I can't wait for the XXX designation.  The returns will surely be pornographic.

How about an XX, Dos Equis, designation ,where The Most Interesting Man in the World becomes a Neo pitchman?  "Stay thirsty, my friends..."
