re: Multimode Fiber Gets a New Lease on Life It would seem to me that the dimensions for the bandwidth distance product must be Gbit-km/s and not Gbit/s/km.

Unless I'm mistaken, Gbit-km/s and Gbit/s/km are equivalent. Both are correct.

re: Multimode Fiber Gets a New Lease on Life Examining the NBase Xyplex website I notice where their Fiber Driver product line includes Multimode to singlemode converter(s) allowing existing multimode fiber users to extend the transmission distance to over 100km ffor a variety of prootocols incuding Gigabit Ethernet.

re: Multimode Fiber Gets a New Lease on Life Very Interesting! The application picture shows conversion back to Multimode too, so existing Multimode wiring in our buildings doesn't have to be replaced. That is huge. Thanks for the information!

Examining the NBase Xyplex website I notice where the Fiber Driver product line includes Multimode to singlemode converter(s) allowing people with existing multimode fiber to either extend their transmission distance to over 100km for a variety of prootocols incuding Gigabit Ethernet or to connect new singlemode fiber to existing multimode fiber.
