re: Marvell Gets Small Broadcom had the first Quad-Gig PHY in a 21mm x 21mm package, the BCM5404.

It's been in production for quite a while now.

They also have 3 other application specific Quad-Gig PHYs, all in the 21mm x 21mm package.

Marvell needs to start reading their #1 competitors press releases.

Or

Just continue to play follow the leader.

Not that anyone (produce planners, engineers, the sales force, or the competition) could be expected to know that.

Broadcom's paranoia is unmatched (as is the false sense of security it provides them). The poor sales force doesn't even know the most basic features of many devices because Broadcom refuses to disclose to them. It would be funny, where it no so sad. Instead, the sales force has to beg to sneak a peek of the customers data sheet (which you only get after waiting a week to be "approved").

What amazed me was how big the collective ego was when dealing with Broadcom. You seem to have it, you must get along very very well with them.
