re: Lucent Proposes Reverse Stock SplitTake a look at the market share. NT and LU own the NGS space as well. Their is a reason statups can not displace the "campions". Their gear does not compare.
Carriers don't want feature wars. They want equipment that runs for ever and costs nothing.

NT, JDS, LU, Agere, may be oplink.... support for the components for the existing system is going to keep them runing for a while. (2) from the equipment side, the overall list of the world are not very long. Carrier grade equipment for North American are few, NT, Sycamore, Ciena, LU ,,, unless you count on Cisco and Corning.... unless the gov want use foreign equipment for their infrastructure (fat chance), someone better wake up and fix this damn mess deregulation created. Otherwise, you may end up with Fujitsu or Siemens gear if you are rich, Huawei's stuff if you run out of money.
re: Lucent Proposes Reverse Stock SplitSmoke signals! That's where the growth will come from. Better plant a tree. Phones and internet are too 20th century.
re: Lucent Proposes Reverse Stock Split"Interesting to keep in mind that Lucent will have an options re-pricing towards the middle to end of November. A cynical investor might question if the stock price is being held down for that eventual re-pricing. We wrote about this re-pricing at this link."
Options shouldn't impact re-pricing, since the option exercise price get's re-adjusted with a split. I can't see how this would be a factor.

Sorry, pulled a BobbyMax, meant to say
"Options re-pricing shouldn't impact a decision to do a stock split (reverse or otherwise), since the option exercise price (or re-price) adjusts with a split. I can't see how this would be a factor."
re: Lucent Proposes Reverse Stock Split"Both Lucent and Nortel should be investigated by the US Government and the Canadian Government, respectively. Both Lucent and Nortel have failed in the market place because of certain reasons. These massive failures did not occur due to some act of god."
Please explain yourself. What strange conspiracy happened to produce this drivel? You sound like a person that was burned on the Stock Market and want you pound of flesh. You might as well wait in line, it'll be a while. Also, name these certain reasons you refer to.

You must be new to these boards! That's LR's own "Village Idiot" BoobyMax. No matter the subject, he's always spouting inane accusations. You're lucky with this one: at least this post was vageuly coherent. Most of the time it's just this stream-of-consciousness jumbled rant. It's even quite predictable, in fact...
re: Lucent Proposes Reverse Stock SplitIn addition, blood tests should be taken o all government investigators to be certain that they are not corrupt VCs, Indian H1-B holders, or aliens. It is clear that Lucent and Nortel are nothing but banks for Alien VCs to collect earth money in, and for aliens and Indians to take US and Mexico jobs. These aliens must take US jobs because they can no return to home planet because flying saucers use junky startup technology and don't work.
re: Lucent Proposes Reverse Stock SplitIf this "re-pricing" can keep LU and NT alive (I presume it does!), then why others who went belly up (e.g., MFN?) didn't follow this route? What's the catch?
