I like our new look -- you wouldn't expect someone on staff to say otherwise, of course. But I do find it-áaesthetically appealing -- very contemporary.
-áBut check out some of those page designs from 7, 8 years ago that Phil has in his slide deck there - boy, some of those were FUNKY!
Maybe we can have a parallel Light Reading in the 2001 design, for those who like to relive the bursting of the bubble....
The new look seem to rock, and is pleasing to the eyeballs..
some links in the events - like policy control, backhaul strategies etc seem to take me back to the red old look of LR. you have left that to lapse on its own, or is it transitioning as yet..
OK, the "look" is nice. -áKind of journalistic with lots of white space, -áBut frankly, I really do NOT like the new site. -áThe issue is with its' utility. -áIt is harder to navigate around, and harder to find what I am looking for. -á
-áfor instance, in the old site, to see reader's posts, there was a simple link showing the "last 100 posts" in chronological order. -áI really liked that feature and used it to zoom immediately to recent posts. -áThose posts were not sorted by subject, just listed. -á
-áThe new site you have to go to message boards, then go to "more message boards", then go to each individual subject and click and only then does the recent posts for only that subject pop up. -áTo do what I was able to do on the old site with one click, I now have at least 3-4 clicks and then I have to go back up a level and back down again for each subject. -áI truly hate this. -áI just want to get my news please. -á
-áWhile I like the look, I want my older more simply click through to get to what I want to read. -áyou could have done your look and feel improvements without making the site harder to use. -áSeems to me someone in marketing had too much time on their hands and not enough real work to do. -áDid you guys ever do a table showing the "click through flow" and not just have layout experts say this "look" is better? -á -á-á
-áArrrghhh. -áplease make it easy to find and read posts without having to go through all the layers down to each subject!

We're still moving things over and updating some of the events pages. But some changes just take a while to move through the Inter-tubes. Sometimes hitting refresh on the browser can clean out old cached versions of the site.
It lists the top 100 messages, with no subject sorting. That link is now at the bottom of the the Last 10 Posts box. Our West Coast editor Craig M. was a fan of the link, too.
Also, I hope you like the notification feature. That should save you some scrolling time when you fancy doing a little verbal dogfighting.
The Fonz jumped a shark. Optical Oracle was actually eaten by one.
That's all I'm legally allowed to say.
