the move to LA is a horrible idea. Traffic, noise, traffic....
reminds me of the last few years before Supercom died. A permanent move to Atlanta...a city with traffic, inconvenience, noise....
..., when for many years Supercom thrived by moving to different cities each year. I miss those days when Supercom AND OFC / NFOEC moved each year, sponsored by the regional baby bells.
Seems to me that trade show organizers should be more concerned about the quality of the experience of the attendees and exhibitors. I predict this move is damaging to OFC/NFOEC and does not turn out positive.
I have to respectfully disagree -- I'll take LA over Anaheim, easy.
About the California thing - I seem to remember hearing years ago that OFC preferred a west coast locale because of the number of researchers attending from Asia. (Not NFOEC, just OFC.)
I think I heard organizers saying they intend to move OFC/NFOEC around, so that 2011 would be outside California. Heck, I'll just go ask 'em.
why don't we just boycott the show? i cannot see a reason to move the show out of san diego - the weather was perfect, the restaurants nearby (and not crowded), the bars were great, etc.
what were these guys smoking?
odo <-- who loved the show, but was too stuck in the inner confines to truly enjoy the weather!
as the mover and shaker behind the ofc boycott, and an avid reader of all articles matsumoto, i have a request: please sir, may i have my yellow bananas back? i am feeling a little green with my single red cherry.
odo <- who is clearly confused about the mixed color metaphors
odo - I think you're completely entitled to have those bananas back, so I'll see what I can do. I don't have any direct control of the rating system - it's all just algorithms, AFAIK. Hang in there, and thanks as always for participating!
I can't think of one positive reason. It must be a lot cheaper or someone got paid off.
