I could not agree with you more. The whole situation with Verizon and Apple has been like a yo-yo, especially within the carrier itself. One month it seems like it will not go with the iPhone, and then another, just the opposite.
While I am reluctant to go out on a limb, the latest that we are hearing is that Verizon’s 4G iPhone will be the debut product and will come out in the fall. But please don’t bet the farm on it.
I would think they save their valuable PR ammo for new products. According to Steve, having Verizon sell the phone would be just adding a second "orifice".
Last time I was at Huawei there was a guy standing at the freeway exit for Hon Hai/Huawei in Shenzhen with a giant sign that said "Will pay for iPhone/iPad component/delivery/design information'.
Just Kidding. But if I saw it, I wouldn't be surprised.
Actually, it is hard to tell how Apple would behave in a scenario like the iPhone going to a new network. Such a scenario wouldn't be a hardware announcement and Apple is a hardware company.
So should they turn up and make a big deal of it or let the service provider have the glory and hope not to tick off AT&T?
Oh, and the Feb. 3 thing? They're launching the iPlay videogame console, the iPhoto DSLR, and the iSee 3DTV. My sources, who I can't name and won't talk to me, have confirmed everything.
Yep, that's true. But it's still a big deal to have the top two nationwide carriers in the most active smartphone market in the world competing to sell the same phone.
My logic was sound, I think, but I should have read my own blog more carefully:
"It's not a new thing for Apple, per se... "
A hardware company isn't going to get excited over a yet another new store carrying their gear. But that doesn't mean the store itself won't make some noise.
