re: Light Reading's Top Ten Private Companies Since when is being is business for a while "too long"

Too much bubble mentality not washed away. 100,000 more layoffs in this industry and we will be back to some sensible (if chaotic) state

That's certainly the case for just about all of the Rt. 495 startups, wavesmith included. Even Lucent's office in Westford (ex-Cascade) has caught the 495 flu.

re: Light Reading's Top Ten Private Companies A professor in my networking class said last night that Force10 went belly up. Didn't Force10 just announce general availability of their product and have one years worth of cash left?

re: Light Reading's Top Ten Private Companies WS's VCs have been shopping them for awhile. Nobody's in a buying mood of course. They're probably trying to sell the IP on the cheap by now. VCs just want a way out of these dying portfolio companies even if the price is not right. Everybody needs closure.

re: Light Reading's Top Ten Private Companies Did it occur to you to ask your 'professor' the source of his information?

And what was the context that he discussed this?

Sounds to me like YOU are trying to start a rumor!

Pooh.

re: Light Reading's Top Ten Private Companies GRAVESMITH- someone went in and shot the founder/marketing guy but some say the gun was found close to the body. Someone then put a bullet in the Vp of Sales guy but we knew this would happen with the sales guy because they had 2 vp of sales guys in the house.

I'd like to know the status of the CEO search and if they have found a competent candidate yet? In this market, why is it taking so long? It went out on retainer back in November of last year.

I think they have secured next round of funding and have a big brother to help them with some deals but the cost is a less than attractive valuation but who's complaining?

A few more soldiers in the trenches will be shot in the weeks to come in order to comply with burn rate requirements set forth by the 3rd round investors.
