re: Juniper's Ethernet Strategy Emerging I work for a new startup carrier and we had a two days workshop in Alcatel. We put the 7450 under extensive testing and it performed quite well.

Along with the SAM and 7750, no wonder they've winning market share.

re: Juniper's Ethernet Strategy Emerging I'm very familiar with the ALA deployments to date and can assure everyone on this thread that the 7450 is very much real and in use.

re: Juniper's Ethernet Strategy Emerging yhza,

what is the primary service/application you're looking to deliver that leads you to consider the 7450/7750/SAM combo?

re: Juniper's Ethernet Strategy Emerging "Mostly correct answer. It is a cost reduced platform based on the 7750. The SW codebase is the same for both platforms and all of the HA features are supported: non-stop routing and non-stop services, both of which feature fully stateful mirroring of protocol and service information. It was mainly developed by the former TiMetra people and some Alcatel people from Belgium.

Hmmm, I disagree. According to the info I have from Alcatel, the following features are not supported on the 7450 without loss or reset of routing control information:
- Graceful restart
- Non-stop routing
- Software upgrade/downgrade

Nevertheless, itGÇÖs still a very good box.

re: Juniper's Ethernet Strategy Emerging yhza,

Talk to your sales rep or contacts from Alcatel. The HA functions that were available (and tested/verified by BTExact) on the 7750 were ported/synced with the 7450 on the most recent code release in August as well as adding the new Non-Stop Services (NSS) functions.

The 7450 really is the only purpose built product for carrier ethernet services and is very good at delivering them. I would also say that the 7750 is probably the most stable, scalable, feature-rich edge-router you can purchase today AND it is generally less expensive than brand C and brand J. It is certainly easy to say but the market facts for anyone that knows them back this up.

re: Juniper's Ethernet Strategy Emerging You go girl! You set a fine example of corporate citizenship. Everything needed to get your throat slit. Just ask Juniporola. Why aren't you guys doing something great as a company with all your tools instead of just being happy with who you are? I mean wake up, with all that resource and you're fighting with Cisco? Send me a consultant fee and I will give you some ideas. Post your email for all the spammers^W^W^Wme to see.

Ooooh, I forgot to mention Non Stop Services. Which only Alcatel must have?

Note: Clues will be provided by email. I cannot talk about my ideas at work, but I can tell you were to stick all that resource. sig.

re: Juniper's Ethernet Strategy Emerging Tsat,

Wow! You are so brilliant! Yes, I hate Juniper because of their stock price!

I don't even like gin, why would I like a company named after the ingredients?

Or maybe it was all the oscillator issues with M10 gig ports or the fact that blue lights make me sick.

re: Juniper's Ethernet Strategy Emerging See Alcatel sponsered Webinar "Delivering Carrier Ethernet Services: Real Life Stories*" in the LR Webinar Archives for customer comments on deployments.
Check out the 7750 architecture to see that it wasn't just removing processors to get a 7450.

IP only (No TDM), VPLS, EPL, EIA and IP-VPN. Our access network is based on IP-DSLAMs, WiMax & Ethernet.

We are also talking to Juniper and Cisco.

Are there any wi-max line cards, or you have to use separate access equipment for the same?
