re: Juniper Reports 'Solid' QuarterThings are firming up for Juniper. The integration with Unisphere is surprisingly smooth so far and they have an edge to core, 1-2 punch now so they look less and less like a one-trick pony all the time. This deal is looking more and more like the Ascend/Cascade merger that was so successful.
They still need to acquire Extreme, Foundry or Force10 for an enterprise story to have a chance to challenge Cisco and really matter, but you have to applaud their execution lately.
re: Juniper Reports 'Solid' QuarterHey wiley, how about Foundry, best analysts by .02 (.09) and 5 to 7 million in revenue. Another profitable quarter, whats that 14 or 16 straight. Agree Juniper needs Extreme, similar VCs involved. Foundry needs F10 or Procket. IMHO
re: Juniper Reports 'Solid' QuarterLoving Foundry, too, Ipoed. But one thing bothers me about Foundry (thinking about investing a large chunk into FDRY and holding off for this reason): they still seem to be selling mid to low end products as lion share of their business and they don't seem to have a good story for the high end. If it's just a matter of time before the low end players gobble up a good chunk of Foundry's business what do they do?
re: Juniper Reports 'Solid' QuarterIt's coming. Watch for an announcement. Dell will re-brand Extreme gear. Time to buy Extreme stock again.
Foundry, you better figure out what to do here. Middle of the market's gonna get ugly real fast.
Cisco's the big loser here but Foundry could be really hurt. Foundry should be looking at OEMing with IBM which is itching for a reason to ditch Cisco (Cisco getting into the services business isn't winning them friends and influencing people at IGS or EDS, etc.).
re: Juniper Reports 'Solid' QuarterWiley, very good points. One thing a lot of people do not consider is customer loyalty, Foundry has it and the fact that Foundry has the easiest and most cost effective migration strategy in the marketplace. No need to change power supplies, management modules, chassis upgrades etc, etc. They make rock solid products. They for the most part do not preannounce 6 months to a year before their products are ready for shipment.
Big difference is Bobby Johnson, he does things the right way, he works as hard as anyone even though he probably has 200m liquid assest minimum.
I do agree however they need a high end solution if they want to be an overall consideration ie. F10 or Procket as well as wireless Lan such as Trapeze would certainly strengthen their position
