re: Juniper Jumps on Good News
Something is rotten in big CAPITAL letters
here. I smell another riverstone/enron/worldcom
here.

As Heavy Reading has shown, Juniper doesn't even
have enough recognition by decision makers to
be successful. The only people who do know them
are CLECs who are in trouble. So these results
don't seem to line up with the KNOWN FACTS.

I guess all of us in the peanut gallery will
have to sit back and watch this one carefully.

You saying you actually believe what HR or LR feeds you?

re: Juniper Jumps on Good News From a recent Yahoo article, this says a lot about Juniper's (and Sonus's) hyperinflated stock prices:

[From] a recent interview with Sun Microsystems CEO Scott McNealy. In it, McNealy scoffed at anyone foolish enough to buy his firm's shares at their peak valuations. When asked about the people who bought Sun stock in 2000, he responded: "At 10 times revenues? Do the math. Do the math at 10 times revenues. There is no way to justify anything. Two times revenues implies 15 percent compound annual growth rate forever. Jack Welch did that for 20 years and went down in the hall of fame as the greatest CEO ever. So what does 10 times require? Do the math."

Do the math! At 10 times forward revenues, people are dreaming the impossible dream with Juniper. Better cash in, while your checks are still good.

re: Juniper Jumps on Good News What kind of laughing gas are pumping through the halls where you work? Methinks you've been brainwashed by the big PR spin of your employer or are living in complete denial of reality.

Your threads are a riot to read! But please spell out in complete detail your "KNOW FACTS" . I need another chuckle!

re: Juniper Jumps on Good News >Your threads are a riot to read! But please >spell out in complete detail your "KNOW FACTS"

Ok Buddy,

I'll lay out the facts for you:

FACT

-> The people most aware of Juniper and its
products are CLECS - 93%. (1)

FACT

-> 25% of the people who make decisions about
routers at RBOCS have never heard of Juniper.(2)

FACT

-> Seimans is kicking Juniper out and replacing
it (for now) with Cisco.(3)

FACT

-> 20% of the BIG GUN decision makers in our
business have NEVER EVEN HEARD of juniper.(4)

FACT

-> Our Business is full of ACCOUNTING FRAUD
and FUNNY BOOKS. See the problems at RIVERSTONE
for an example.(5)

FACT

-> Juniper is in DEBT. Companies in DEBT are
/IN/ B--I--G /TROUBLE/ (with a capital "T").

So we have a company that is DEBT, who the
MAJOR PLAYERS are not AWARE of, whose best
customers/friends are CLECs and who is getting
kicked out of a world-class PARTNER arrangement.

Putting the FACTS together with the SCIENCE
that HEAVY READING provided, the conclusion
from the peanut gallery is that something shady
is probably going on under the table. For all
I know, Juniper is paying CLECs out of its debt
money to continue operation.

We DONT KNOW exactly what YET, but its worth
keeping a GOOD EYE (*) (*) [or two] on the
situation.

Echoing other opinions on Light Reading, the
BEST HOPE for juniper is to MARKET-MARKET-MARKET.
They need TV exposure and a superbowl commerical.
Nobody will buy their products unless people
know that they MAKE products.

re: Juniper Jumps on Good News Ah, FW has hit the Juniper fan base. May as well discuss the SuperBowl 'cause the Juniper zealots are just like Raiders fans.

Here's some information for the Juniper fans (source: Juniper *in millions):

Total Current Assets 931,811

Total Assets 2,980,300 (of which exist many accounting tricks and not real asset)

Total Current Liabilities 258,541

Total Liabilities 1,498,535

Retained Earnings (20,057) Including Q3/2003 they have not made one penny of profit since they began. Funny thing is, Scott Kriens talks about "Juniper your net" and "profitability". Leadership is leading by example and Juniper has set a very bad example of profitability. Everyone says Juniper has all this money, but where did it come from if it didn't come from customers? Oh, stock holders? The ones that could all decide to sell tomorrow and blow this risky company right out of the business world.

Total Stockholder Equity 1,481,765

Net Tangible Assets $409,560

In case you're wondering about how it should look, the Net Tangible Assets should be able to cover the stock holders, which they don't. Also, since this stock holder equity is on loan, it must get paid back. Where is the 1 Billion dollars going to come from if it doesn't come from profits? Juniper has 5 more years to make 1 Billion dollars in profit. Good luck!

Now let's ask the question, if they haven't made any money running their lemonade stand over the last 7 years, what makes you think they will now? Another Internet boom? Yeah, right.

Juniper can keep their CFO. I wouldn't want him running my business (and I do have a very profitable business).

And when you all look back at your posts and wonder why your paradigm that Juniper is God and all others are crap has been blown out of the water by profitable companies that know how to run a business you will see you did ignore the facts.

Cisco isn't going anywere. Foundry isn't going anywhere. These companies are rock solid businesses. Foundry will pass Juniper on the top line over the next year. Other companies are coming. Dell will be assembling Internet Core Routers one day.

After all that, I hope Juniper can do something great and make 1 Billion dollars in profit over the next 5 years. It is good for customers to have choices and nobody wants to see any company disappear. The odds are heavily against them, especially when their own fan base is ignorant of their problems.

re: Juniper Jumps on Good News hey fw, you must be quite the acrobat/gymnast to get your head stuck so far up. get off that sysco kool-aid or it will get you addicted!

hilarious that you think (what you in marketing- for which loser outfit?) that Superbowl or CNBC ads will be watched by operators at Malaysia Telekom, Czech Telecom to name a few. Learn from their success- focus, focus and focus. Build serious relationships with folks that have the budget/need, they are not selling toasters (yet!) to paint a wide-brush marketing campaign.

On the subject of brand recognition by RBOCS, again lift your head from your sandy backside. They are IN all the major players and GAINING ground. You are in serious denial. And the yellow paper published by HR only adds to your delusion.

Finally on accounting practices, they have the best CFO bar none. Go ask folks at Goldman, Solomon, etc. Cisco would die to get Marcel but that will happen you think? :) Read their accounting statements, nowhere is any debt to be seen, they have cash surplus.

Back to the Yahoo boards, you!

re: Juniper Jumps on Good News fw23.
Either you got the axe from Juniper or are working at a competitor.
OK, I understand your feelings, really, I do.

I guarantee you that in a couple of years when you've either 1) grown up or b) cooled off, you will look back on these posts and say "geez, how embarassing"

PLEASE take the show somewhere else.
Thank you.
