re: ITU, Arab League Get Cozy Strange that a standards body would partner with a group with like the Arab League with such anti-jewish viewpoints. Go to their website and check out the nice politically inflammatory pictures that scroll in the upport right-hand side, including a palestinan suicide bomber - real nice.

Above quote from ATMer-

Am I wrong or is the above antisematic remark worthy of being posted here. I think not. This is an industry forum not some place for a racist to spew his garbage.

Agreed that LR boards are not an appropriate place for this issue but ATMer did not start this thread. He merely stated a fact as to one of the reasons why Palestinians/Arabs were fighting the Israelis. Does that make his comment anti-semitic? Absolutely not. Did it make Marlon Brando anti-semitic when he said 'jews run Hollywood'? Again no. It is simply calling a spade a spade and nothing more. So....stop your whining

re: ITU, Arab League Get Cozy Yeah the Palestinians are brave people. They cheered when 9/11 happened. Their sucide bombers kill innocent women and children. They burn the american flag. Both you , Bill Johnson and ATMer can get the hell out of the USA if you think the Palestinians terrorists do not wish every american was dead.

re: ITU, Arab League Get Cozy lipoed,

get a grip you wacky-ass. I never said anyone was brave. You are going off on tangents. Killing innocent women and children? Yes, they do that regurlarly just like their Israeli neighbors. Yes, I believe that Palestinians are anti-American but it is because we continue to have double standards when it comes to Israel. If you are so pro-Israel, you get YOUR ass out of America and move over there. That way you can take matters up with the Palestinians up close and personal.

re: ITU, Arab League Get Cozy This mindless bickering has nothing to do with networking or telecommunications. THe Arab/Isreali conflict can't be solved here. Don't waste my time with this. If I want this kind of debate I can go to any 8th grade class room.

re: ITU, Arab League Get Cozy lipoed,

Why do you accuse people in this post of anti-Semitism? Nobody has said anything defamatory about Jews or attacked them in any way - which I believe is the definition of anti-Semitism.

The only comments relate to Israel, whose actions as a sovereign country must be evaluated against the codes developed through broad international consensus to prescribe a stateGÇÖs responsibilities within its boundaries, and in dealing with other nations. Thus one must rightly judge Israeli government policy not against a dismal record of terrorist assault on its citizens, but rather against such benchmarks such as the United Nations charter or the International Convention of Human Rights. In this context, Israel remains in violation of UN articles restricting the use of military force between states, and of no fewer than 65 United Nations resolutions seeking redress or censure of Israeli occupation of the Occupied Palestinian Territories.

In this vein, Israeli peace activists whose members come from all cross-sections of Israeli society, and who similarly challenge and condemn many of IsraelGÇÖs occupation and annexation policies, can hardly be called anti-Semitic for holding their views. In support of this argument one can point directly to the respected Jewish Israeli political scientist Ilan Pappe, who has said GÇ£The only thing that can end Israeli occupation is outside pressure.GÇ¥

Thus Israel is now an occupier, exercising control over a Palestinian population through the sustained and institutionalized use of collective punishment and military suppression of any resistance to occupation. This has included disfranchisement, school closures, limit to the freedom of movement, house demolitions, land seizures, arbitrary arrest and detention, deportation, torture, political assassination, and an economic blockade of the Palestinian economy. More recently and in response to terrorist attacks against innocent civilians in Israle and occupation soldiers in the Occupied Palestinian Territories, this has also tended to include an ominous escalation in the indiscriminate use of lethal force either directly against civilian populations, or without regard to potential, and often actual, civilian casualties when engaged in armed combat with, or assassination of, paramilitary or terrorist targets.

Thus attempts to associate clear and justified protest by proponents of human rights, both from within and outside Israel, with the extremism and racism of anti-Semitic groups or motivations, does a disservice not only to Jews and Israelis, but to truth as well. By forcing an association between being Jewish and providing support of Israeli government policy, one in fact plays into the hands of anti-Semitics who seek to use such an association to tarnish the image of Jews worldwide, and incite hate attacks against their communities. Rather, focus should be on peace, freedom, and justice, and the means that best achieve it.
