re: It's Christmas Time at LucentMy mom told me to marry a rich woman! Pat if your still available, I am good at doing the dishes, can clean house, and good with a gun which might come in handy to keep the troops at bay on the way to the bank to deposit the bonus check. My list of qualifications are too long to discuss here but am tired of chasing photon's and electrons anyway and looking for a career change. Let me know if your interested. +£
re: It's Christmas Time at LucentI repeat: One theory of the end of empires is that a rich class gets dis-associated from the "real world", co-opts too much power and pays itself excessively, draining the life out of the "real economy" in an attempt to maintain an unrealistic life style. LU is a perfect example. They pay themselves millions and deny DEATH BENEFITS to their workers, before shipping their jobs overseas.
This company has been run into the ground, going from a leading technology company to an OEM service provider. They have lied to the street all the way. They lied about their profits in the boom times. They lied to investors about their profitable Q2 by projecting that a bad wireless deal with Reliance in India was going to get accepted. They then just want you to "put this behind us." This company is not out of the woods, Is this really the best use of company funds. How about a little R&D?
re: It's Christmas Time at LucentI can't believe that in this era of trials, lawsuits and empty apologies, this is going on. Multi million dollar bonuses to people who can't get the nose up on a blimp like Lucent and make money without lying. What is their Board smoking? I would say I want some, if I smoked. What fun they must be having! The backslapping, the joy! We did great! We only lost a few hundred million this quarter! We only lost 7 points of share over here, and ten over there. We can pay the electric bills and the pensioners after all! Party time! Bonus time! Boy would I love to be Pat "Hairbunny" Russo. Who's her sugardaddy? Henry?
There is a rat here somewhere, I can smell it. Plenty of rats in New Jersey. Fat cats? No, fat rats.
God damn bastard, 12 sandwich eating, no brain having, telco reject, don't understand the internet even though it's been mainstream for 10 years, old school CLOWNS.
Same old Lucent.
I'm back to loving Cisco, just to watch them stamp out the stupid Lucents and Nortels of the world. You see Chambers taking a cool $3 mil? No freakin' way.
re: It's Christmas Time at LucentThis is the kind of action that we thought would only be committed by the corrupt government officials in the third world countries who could care less about anybody else. Right?!
re: It's Christmas Time at LucentDo you think Darth Vader hair gives a rats ass about the rank and file contributors at Lucent? As long as she and he cronies are getting taken care of, then all's right with the world and its PARTY TIME.
re: It's Christmas Time at LucentWhy doesn't Pat and her cronies run compaqnies in the airline or auto industry . They can perform theior magic there, cut jobs, cut jobs and finally cut more jobs until revenues are higher than expenses. There is no strategic plan, no R & D, no morale at the company, but you can grab the short term money and run. Who is on the board approving these bonuses, the same people that oversaw Tyco and Enron.
re: It's Christmas Time at LucentPlease be so kind as to read an earlier article - No Nun Bashing at Cisco (NOVEMBER 12, 2003) http://www.lightreading.com/do...

The airlines don't need any help. Their formula is cut-pay/cut-fares/cut-pay/cut-fares until the wage levels are the same as the budget airlines.
The plan in the auto industry is outsource everything except final assembly to cut-rate operations that either pay less or are outside the country. And to automate final assembly.
What Lucent needs to do is fire everyone at Bell Labs and agressively move more product functions to China&India. Cutting costs is the only way to be competitive. Americans have priced themselves out of the market and companies will do what they have to do.
Thats why we need to reform social security, medicare and the horrible tax system in the US. We need to make american workers cost-competitive again.
Not.
