re: Is Qwest Shunning Startups? Any start up. The ones that lied through their PowerPoint presentations and provided useless error-prone equipment by cutting corners around test engineering, design, verification, product integrity testing. The incumbent vendors (Lucent, Alcatel, Nortel, Siemens, Ericsson) will be the only telecom survivors standing after the optical dot bomb smoke settles to supply the switching, optical, and wireless markets.

re: Is Qwest Shunning Startups? Can some one elaborate on this
- what areas(metro, edge, optical ??)
- name the startups if possible
Thanks

That's a good thing. Being a Nortel and Lucent fan, I am very happy that we will go back to the days were innovation is going at the frantic Nortel pace.

I just love products that come out 4, 5 or 6 years late on schedule, that use outdated technology and is created in an institution that could rival with congress for their level of politics.

Face it, Nortel and Lucent had their time in the sunshine.. Now, I just hope they will suffer and eventually be acquired for a penny.

> useless ... equipment

You're right again. With develop new equipment. We have phones, we have modems, we don't need more. We don't need new technology.

Remember the US patents clerk who, in the early 19th century, resigned because there was nothing more to invent? We can close the US patents office !

> error-prone

If only every company could be like Nortel and deliver flawless equipment!

Wake up, Nortel and Lucent are doomed.
zweisel 12/4/2012 | 10:35:07 PM
re: Is Qwest Shunning Startups? Can you be any more of a dork if you tried? Lucent and Nortel will survive and only get stronger as the market improves. Have you forgot that they have other non-optical businesses to fund their optical businesses in the interim?

You obviously work for a (doomed) startup or was let go by Lucent or Nortel. Good luck.
