re: Huawei Raises the Optical StakesThere is no standard as yet for this and certainly not in FSAN. IEEE is further ahead with EPON but even that standard is not ready. The article claims or states the chinese vendor has a fully compliant FSAN prototype. So, what 10G prototype is this ??
re: Huawei Raises the Optical StakesHuawei are a bunch of copy cats - their employees are breed this way. Industrial espionage is rampant in the company and culture that is okay. God help us if these folks ever get deployed to run any of my services I will be switching and campaigning to get them kicked out of any carrier.
The quikcer the West govt. get a handle on this type of activity and kick them out send them back to the China the better off the rest of the industry will be.
re: Huawei Raises the Optical StakesI have to agree with abstractid, like them or hate them Huawei IS a force to be reckoned with!
Maybe they copy everything, although it is impossible to be first with anything by copying....
Personally I like working with Huawei (margins are better than supplying the same part to Cisco) development cycles are shorter = quicker time to recoup my investment.
The real advantage of Huawei is that they have amazing growth, so as a component supplier they are always upwardly adjusting orders.
re: Huawei Raises the Optical StakesSooner or later you egomania will realize that Huawei is a great company, you said Huawei is copycat, can you give the proof? Remember the total IPR count of Huawei has reach the top 3 in communication industry, and Huawei also has it's own NP and ASIC R&D center. And look at the bad cash flow of Europe Telecom Equipment vendors these years, Huawei surpassing these companies is only a matter of time.
re: Huawei Raises the Optical StakesWhat's not to like about Huawei?
Maybe this:
It is true that they have been eating lunches of their competitors. Without knowing their verifiable profit figures, however, it is really difficult to assess their health conditions.
with EPON but even that standard is not ready.
