re: Health Care Could Loom Large for Qwest, CWA

That means health care will be at least as important to the CWA in the negotiations this week, if not more. It's an issue the union is very passionate about -- so much so that as part of its new contract with Verizon, the telco is required to spend $2 million every year toward the CWA's efforts in lobbying for national health care reform.

No doubt healthcare will play a major role during negotiations. If no deal is reached on Sunday, I believe they will continue nogatiations because if history has taught us anything, it is that UNION members are a bit hesitant to go on strike in troubled economic times so I think Qwest has the upper hand. It really all depends on what CWA members would have to share in paying premiums and enrollment fees.
