re: Headcount: Give Me Liberty From Booby:
"There is a lot of risk in acquiring any company from California. Similarly the products from this state cannot be trusted. California has become a thirld world country with no value systems."

From someone with a brain:
Perhaps Booby learned to spell "third" in the fourth world state he obliviously resides in. Pray tell, Booby, what sort of "value systems" run your show (this ought to provide us with plenty of fodder)?

re: Headcount: Give Me Liberty Booby's back! Yeah! Haven't had the taste of your bile for a while.

However I have to commend you on your new-found posting accuracy. You've now achieved 50% accuracy (not quite passing grade, but better than your past record).

Yes, Ciena literally was deceived by Cyras management in its acquisition process.

However ONI has proved to be immensly succesful for Ciena, ESPECIALLY if you consider the alternatives. For example, ONI has been close to 50% of Ciena's revenues in the recent quarters (their LH business is in depression, Cyras is not, and they've staurated the market with past CoreDirector sales). So ONI is keeping their revenue alive for now.

In addition ONI brought in a reasonably sizeable cash stock-pile as part of the acquisition, and as we all know in today's market cash is king in terms of enabling companies to ride out what will be an extended bear market for customer spending in optical.

Now Booby, run back downstairs, Mummy is calling....

re: Headcount: Give Me Liberty I also love Booby's comment "the products from this state [California] cannot be trusted".

I better throw my box of raisins away. And now I have to pour my California wine down the drain (in addition to my French wine as some idiot Americans have actually done!).

Does that also mean I can't go down to LA in two weeks for the long week-end I had planned?

Booby, Booby, Booby.... why do you have to paint with such a broad brush? Is that the only way that your peurile personality can find redemption?

re: Headcount: Give Me Liberty Polaris has no product! Family business break up with Vu gone. Mr MBA now knows not what to do except fill up pocket.

Kao and favorite ask VC to fund new company. Wake up VC! Where is Polaris profit from cHip? In Kao pocket!

re: Headcount: Give Me Liberty Cygnus-dude, I'm obviously not big PN fan either (or more generally, not a startup fan, currently), but chill-out! Your message has been received in full bloom. Polaris might prosper, or they might die on the dreaded VC vine, but it's nothing to get your panties in a wad over (unless ... of course ... you were one of the fateful few to be let go). If so, then continue to speak out Sir Knight - with full vigor and grace!

re: Headcount: Give Me Liberty Interesting, but a look at Innovance's management team no longer shows Todd Kimmel (used to be VP of Business Development), nor Kenneth Friedman (used to be VP Corporate Development).

Somehwhat not surprising given Innovance's grievous financial state (I guess you don't need B-D if you have no business, nor Corporate Development if you soon won't have a corporation), but this means they are now cutting executives too to reduce burn rate.

However, given the key management is the Nortel "core" of Allen - Fridsham - Solheim, it is not surprising some of the "outsider" execs were the first to go.

re: Headcount: Give Me Liberty Just so every is clear. Jedai is dead. As far as I know everyone was let go. There may be a few management types around but everyone else is gone.
