i just can't imagine that corporations have gotten any more corrupt than they've always been.

You can't be serious? Why do you think the difference in pay between the rich and the poor is getting wider? One word - Reaganomics. Perhaps 20 years is beyond your horizon? CEOs have always been crooks but the 80s really kicked it up a notch.

P.S. du ~ de le in French but there is no such phrase as "de le". The feminine equivalent is de la (of the). So du is correct for masculine "le jour". Fraud du jour = fraud of the day. Hope you enjoyed the French lesson.
